Day 2: Rehearsals Begin!

November 8, 2015

Hey guys! Ryan Bauer-walsh here with Death for Five Voices in Italy!  So I woke up to bright orange sunlight beaming though my windows. It was an early day, but a press conference was imminent. I went down for breakfast and found a beautifully set table, with an amazing spread.

Stepping out onto the balcony, this was my morning view.

After breakfast, we all put on our finest, and began the journey to Avellino- the largest city in the region– for the press conference.

Cara, Wilson and I crammed into the backseat on our way to Avellino- the views were amazing, and the roads curved so much it was actually nice to have another person to keep you in your seat!

Cara began the event with an interview with the local news and radio stations.

and soon it was the casts turn to participate in the conference.

Then, it was off to the theatre, for an inspection of the space.  Check out this amazing performance venue we will be performing in! The theatre seats about 1,500 people, and the acoustics are amazing!

After the theater inspection, we headed back to Gesualdo for lunch!

The drive back was beautiful. The weather has been amazing. And—- Check out this amazing dessert!

We then had an amazing rehearsal. We were able to get through the show with the help of out AMAZING music director, Max Mammon. He took us through the score and was so wonderful in guiding us through the complicated madrigals of Carlo Gesualdo. We managed to get through every piece of music in the show, and were able to get off book on a few things. With the short amount of time we have, we know it will be a lot of effort to get this show to the level of perfection this company demands of itself, but Prospect Theater Co- has a beautiful way of creating family, and with family anything is possible!

I look forward to starting staging tomorrow- and before we know it, we will begin rehearsals in the castle Carlo Gesualdo lived in! How cool is that?

Check back with us tomorrow to see how everything is going with our first day of blocking.

We will be in the space under the B&B and then we will start to get out of our scripts and scores and into costume before too long.

Talk with you all soon!

Ryan
